MSW, LCSWA
(she/her)
Melissa Huff, MSW, LCSWA, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate who believes everyone deserves a space to heal without judgment or shame. She earned her Master’s in Social Work from NC State University and her Bachelor’s in Psychology from UNC Charlotte.
Melissa first joined CSWC as a clinical intern, providing LGBTQIA+ and gender affirming care and supporting clients navigating sexual dysfunction, anxiety, depression, and sexual trauma, among other concerns. She also completed an internship as a Peer Support Specialist with North Carolina Recovery Support Services, where she supported individuals working towards recovery and processing trauma.
She came to this field after a career in sales, where she discovered a deeper passion for helping people navigate trauma. She aims to offer her clients genuine understanding and confidence to know they aren’t walking their healing journey alone.
Melissa is now working towards full licensure and sees clients in our Durham office and via telehealth. She accepts most BCBS, Cigna, and Aetna plans (but not Blue Home or Healthy Blue) and can also see clients who would like to use out of network benefits and private/self-pay clients.
“Sex therapy is a tool people can access to help them discover who they are in a healthy, affirming way. It’s a stepping stone to help them be their authentic selves without any sense of guilt or shame.”

Working with Melissa
Melissa knows that walking into a therapist’s office to talk about the most intimate parts of your life can already feel intimidating, and she works hard to make sure her space never feels clinical or cold. She brings a gentle but realistic approach to sessions, wanting clients to feel like they can be fully open without fear of judgment.
Melissa believes everyone deserves to love and be loved in whatever narrative makes sense to them, as long as everyone involved is on the same page. She sees sex therapy as a way for clients to discover who they are in a healthy, affirming way and to build toward their most authentic selves.
Personal Interests
Outside of work, Melissa can often be found at a hot yoga class or rediscovering hobbies from her childhood, including rebuilding her Pokémon card collection. She loves getting creative in the kitchen by trying new recipes, and channels that same creativity into painting and other craft projects in her free time.
