(she/her)

Constance Simmons, LCMHCA, NCC is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate in North Carolina currently accruing hours towards her full licensure.  Constance is a National Certified Counselor through the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC) and received her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke.

During her internship at UNC Pembroke, Constance had the opportunity to work with a diverse clientele presenting a variety of concerns such as depression, anxiety, stress, anger, trauma, relationship issues, and low self-esteem. Constance has a passion for working with all client populations with various issues.

Constance sees clients via telehealth.  She accepts most BCBS, Cigna, and Aetna plans and can also see clients who would like to use out of network benefits and private/self pay clients.

Work Philosophy

Constance approaches therapy from a compassionate, sex-positive, and holistic perspective. She believes that healing and growth begin when clients feel seen, safe, and free to speak openly about parts of themselves that are often silenced by shame or fear. Her goal is to create a space where conversations about identity, intimacy, and sexuality feel as natural as any other aspect of mental health.

Drawing from person-centered, cognitive behavioral (CBT), and acceptance and commitment (ACT) frameworks, Constance helps clients explore how their thoughts and emotions shape patterns in behavior, relationships, and self-esteem. She collaborates with clients to build insight, emotional awareness, and practical strategies that align with their values and desired way of living.

Constance also integrates mindfulness, somatic awareness, and other holistic practices to help clients reconnect with their physical, emotional, and spiritual selves. Whether working with individuals or couples, her approach emphasizes authenticity, compassion, and the belief that every person has the capacity for renewal and connection.

Personal Interests

Constance values practices that cultivate inner peace and groundedness. She enjoys reading, meditation, yoga, and staying active through movement and music. She finds meaning in exploring new experiences — whether through travel, trying new foods, or discovering stories in film and documentaries. Most of all, she cherishes moments of laughter, creativity, and connection with loved ones.
