DSW, LCSW, LCAS
(she/her)
Dr. Chenita Rountree, DSW, LCSW, LCAS is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in North Carolina. She earned her Master’s in Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a concentration in Children and Families and her doctorate in Social Work from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville in clinical practice and executive leadership.
Dr. Rountree is a trauma and EMDR-informed clinician who brings warmth, clarity, and calm to conversations that can feel tender, loaded, or hard to name. Her work centers on couples and interpersonal dynamics, especially when intimacy, desire, communication, trust, or sexual concerns are at the heart of what’s feeling stuck or distressing.
Her style is grounded, collaborative, and nonjudgmental, which creates space for clients to slow down, tell the truth, and build practical tools without shame. She blends thoughtful psychoeducation with reflective practices that support insight and change, helping clients navigate patterns, strengthen connection, and explore sexuality in ways that feel more informed, intentional, and aligned.
She is committed to culturally responsive, inclusive care that honors each client’s values, context, and lived experience.
Dr. Rountree sees clients in our Durham office and via telehealth. She accepts most BCBS, Cigna, and Aetna plans and can also see clients who would like to use out of network benefits and private/self pay clients.
Work Philosophy
Her style is steady and collaborative: proceeding at a pace that fosters both understanding and practical action. As a trauma-informed clinician, Dr. Rountree prioritizes emotional safety and helps clients develop tools for communication, boundaries, and healing, so intimacy can become more honest, connected, and sustainable.
