Renée Burwell, LCSW, MPA, CST-S, CSE is the Clinical Director of Carolina Sexual Wellness Center. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT) Certified Sex Therapist, Sexuality Educator, and Supervisor.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Spelman College, a Master of Social Work and Master of Public Administration from the University of Southern California, a Post Graduate Certificate in Sex Therapy and Education from the University of Michigan. 

Renée is an active member of AASECT, the Association of Black Sexologists and the Women of Color Sexual Health Network (WOCHN).   She has been named Sex Educator of the Year by Planned Parenthood of Tennessee and North Mississippi and Integrative Sex Therapist of the Year by AASECT.

Alongside her clinical work, Renée has led trainings and workshops for healthcare and social service professionals on topics such as mental health, sexual health, and reproductive justice.

Renée sees clients in office and via telehealth.  She accepts most BCBS plans and can also see clients who would like to use out of network benefits and private/self pay clients. 

 

Working with Renée

Renée’s goal is to help individuals, families, and communities heal and become more authentically themselves.  She specializes in treating couples and individuals with sexual issues, trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, and general life stressors. 

Renée has been trained in EMDR, PACT, Couples’ Developmental Model and Imago and is also a certified Kundalini Yoga Teacher and MAPS trained psychedelic therapist.
